Pre-Game: Mets vs. Marlins 1:05 PM

image

The New York Mets will continue their series against the Miami Marlins today. The Mets saw their five game winning streak end last night. The Mets were able to comeback from a three run deficit last night, but weren’t able to close the game out. This team continues to fight back and last night they proved that again.

Today R.A. Dickey (4-1) will get the start looking to continue his nice start to this season. Today Dickey is facing a free swinging Marlin team which could lead to quick outs and lots of strikeouts. The Mets are looking for the best effort from Dickey today in hopes of him getting the win. The key for Dickey today is to just relax and throw his knuckleball for strikes. This start is very important because a win today could keep hope alive to win the series tomorrow afternoon.

Ricky Nolasco (4-0) starts for the Marlins today. This season has been very good for Nolasco early on. He has a ERA of 2.72 through six starts this season. Over the last three games he has only allowed four runs. Today Nolasco will look to dominate the Mets with his excellent pitches and not allow them to get many hits.

For the Mets offense they have to continue to build on having more big innings. Each game they have one big inning. Today they could use multiple big innings to get this game over with. Ike Davis is starting to heat up just a bit. He has homered in two straight games for the Mets and will look for one tonight. Davis is very important to the offense of this team. Luckily for the Mets his struggles have been submerged simply because the team has been winning.
