Pre-Game: Mets vs. Marlins 7:10 PM

image

The New York Mets will face the Miami Marlins tonight at the new Marlins Park. The Mets are coming off a very nice sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies in their last series. Tonight the Mets will have to face a very hot Marlins team. The Marlins are 8-1 over their last nine games and are 16-15 on the season. The Mets were able to sweep the Marlins earlier this season, but that was a very different team.

Tonight the Mets will send Johan Santana (1-2) to the mound. Santana is coming off a win against the Diamondbacks last Saturday in which he pitch seven strong innings. This season Santana has shown that he is still the great pitcher he was before the surgery on his shoulder. Earlier in the season Santana faced the Marlins and really dominated as he struck out 11 batters. Tonight Santana will have to take advantage of a pitchers ballpark and really get outs tonight. The Mets are counting on their ace to set the tone early in this game and lead them to victory.

Mark Buehrle (2-4) will start for the Marlins looking to continue his nice start to his season. Buehrle has pitched well this season, but hasn’t really received run support in most of his losses. A perfect example was his game against the Mets when he allowed just two runs, but still received the loss. Tonight expect Buehrle to be on his best and look to shut the Mets down early.

In injury news the Mets activated IF Ronny Cedeno from the 15-day disabled list and sent down OF Vinny Rottino. Cedeno will start at shortstop tonight against the Marlins.

The offense for the Mets is really good right now and every game during this five game winning streak someone has stepped up. Last game Ike Davis drove in three runs on a three-run homerun that really helped the Mets get past the Phillies. Andres Torres also had a homerun in the last game, which gave him his first as a Met. This game will be televised on SNY at 7:10 PM and will be on radio station WFAN 660 AM. Let’s go Mets!
