Pre-Game: Mets vs. Phillies 7:05 PM

The New York Mets will face the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at Citizens Bank Park. Tonight will showcase Jon Niese against Roy Halladay in a big game for both teams. The Mets are coming off a very successful series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in which they won the series 2-1. The Mets are continuing to win this season and are proving to be a better team then most thought. Tonight they will face possibly the best pitcher in baseball in Roy Halladay.

For the Mets Jon Niese will have to be outstanding tonight because any deficit the Mets fall into could be the end for them. Niese has pitched very well this season despite having a rough outing against the Astros. That start Niese couldn’t get movement on his pitches and that resulted in easier pitches to hit. If Niese can get movement and command off his pitches, the Mets will get a very successful outing from him. Niese is 2-1 on the season with a ERA of 4.08. The high ERA comes from his last start when he gave up 5 runs.

Roy Halladay is looking to get back on track tonight as he comes off his worst start in a while. Halladay gave up 8 runs on 12 hits against the Braves last Wednesday. That start really was unlike Halladay. This season his velocity has been down, but tonight expect Halladay to be at his best. Halladay has won 8 consecutive starts against the Mets and tonight he will look to get his 9th win. The Mets have to be ready for Halladay to be at his best. He is the type of pitcher who will never have back to back bad starts.

This game will be televised on SNY and ESPN at 7:05 PM. Can the Mets continue their winning streak or will Halladay continue his streak? Find out tonight as the Mets take on the Phillies in a very big series. Let’s go Mets!
