Pre-Game: Mets vs. Phillies 7:05 PM

The New York Mets will try to get a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies tonight. The Mets have won the first two games in comeback fashion and now are up to ten comeback wins this season.

Tonight the Mets will send Dillon Gee (2-2) to the mound as he looks to help get the Mets another win. Gee this season has had overall success and some very disappointing outings, but Gee is coming off a very nice start against the Diamondbacks. In that start Gee went six innings allowing two runs on four hits. Gee also had six strikeouts in that game which is really telling of how good his pitches were working. On the season Gee has 29 strikeouts in five starts this season. When Gee has control over his pitches, he can be very dominant. Tonight look for Gee to look to command the strike zone and command his pitches. This start can really help the Mets sweep the Phillies and move closer to the top of the division standings.

Cliff Lee (0-1) will make his first start since coming of the disabled list today. Lee is not getting any run support this season and no matter how well he pitches he can not get a win. Lee has dominated early this season, but struggled against the Mets in his second start of the season. In the game against the Mets Lee allowed four runs on five hits. He did strikeout seven batters in that game, but that wasn’t enough. Tonight Lee will likely be very good. The Mets will have to try to just get hits and capitalize on his mistakes.

The offense has been very productive with two outs this season. This year the Mets have scored 67 runs with two outs this season, the most in the league. They also are batting .294 with two outs this season, which is also the best in the league. The lineup the Mets have right now is really good. Each night that lineup has the chance to collect plenty of hits. Tonight look for them to collect hits as they try to get another win.

This should be a very interesting night for both teams. The Mets have all of the momentum and confidence right now, but the Phillies will want this game in every way possible. This game will be televised on SNY at 7:05 PM and will be on radio station WFAN 660 AM. Let’s go Mets!
