The New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates will play the final game of a three game series today at PNC Park. So far both teams have won a game, the winner today will win the series. For the Mets they have to come out and provide early run support. This game is very important for the Mets, simply because they need to keep winning. This series and the next series are games the Mets should win. The Pirates have trouble scoring and have a propensity to striking out easily.
In what was a rare tough night at the plate for David Wright, the Mets are hoping that he can get back on track today. Wright is now batting .403 after a tough 0 for 4 with three strikeouts. Wright will be much better today after a real struggle at the plate. This game needs an offensive punch and Wright will give the Mets that added dimension today. This season the Mets have received excellent timely hitting from everyone in the lineup. Ike Davis has continued to struggle and it seems more likely now that he could be headed for the minor leagues. Davis will be in the lineup today, but his time is running out if he can not produce at this level. This game will start at 12:35 PM as the Mets and Pirates finish off a three game series. Let’s go Mets!
