The Cincinnati Reds and New York Mets will play the final game of a two game series this afternoon at Citi Field. The Reds are coming off a win against the Mets in which the Mets bullpen performed poorly. More specifically Jon Rauch and D.J. Carrasco both struggled in their outings. Carrasco was designated for assignment after the game and the Mets have called up LHP Robert Carson. Tonight the Mets have to get a better pitching performance out of their bullpen. There have been stretches this season when the bullpen just cannot do their job. Tonight they have to pitch better and show that they can win the team a game.
Offensively the Mets have started to score runs again, but seem to leave runners in scoring position to frequent. Today the Mets need to come out early and get runs. Ike Davis had a nice RBI double last night. Davis has struggled this season and last night he did a nice job in getting a run for the team and also putting himself in position to score. Today it would be nice for Davis to get hold of a ball and send it out of the park. This game is a good game for the Mets to take. They are going on the road tomorrow and this game could be a nice momentum builder. Let’s go Mets!
