Reds defeat Mets 6-3

A disaster from the bullpen tonight, leads to the Mets losing to the Reds 6-3. Jon Rauch started the downfall as he allowed three hits resulting in three runs. Rauch really never commanded the zone and left too many of his pitches flat. This game also saw a lackluster performance by D.J. Carrasco who served up a two run homerun that opened the game up for the Reds. Those two tonight really took away the Mets chance to get the win and disallowed Johan Santana from getting his second win of the season. The bullpen has to get back on track and tonight they couldn’t keep the lead.

Johan Santana went 6.2 innings allowing two runs on six hits. Santana also had five strikeouts and allowed one homerun. This was a nice effort from Santana, but his team continues to blow leads for him or they struggle to score. This game tonight could have been a nice win for the team. This team has been inconsistent as of late, but still can get back on track before heading on the road on Friday.

  • Lucas Duda went 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
  • Ike Davis broke a 0 for 16 slump with a RBI double.
  • David Wright went 0 for 2 with two walks and a strikeout

WP: Jose Arredondo (3-1)

LP: Jon Rauch (3-2)

SV: Sean Marshall (7)
