The New York Mets will host a three game series against the Cincinnati Reds starting tonight at Citi Field. The Mets are coming off a very wild road trip in which they went 4-5. The Mets lost the first two series, but were able to get the series win against the Tampa Bay Rays. Tonight the Mets have to continue hitting and pitching well in order to win this series. Ike Davis seems to be out of his long slump and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Daniel Murphy was locked in earlier in the season, but has cooled down over the last few weeks. With Davis seemingly hot right now, the Mets have to be happy. The offense as a whole has proven over the last road series that they can hit. They were able to get plenty of runs and hits off the best pitching staff in the major leagues.
This series against the Reds can be a nice stepping stone for this team. They continue to play well against teams with better records and are continuing their two out magic. The success of this team starts with their starting pitching. If Gee can come out and dominate early the Mets will have a better chance to score him some runs and put the pressure on the Reds. This is the best time for the Mets to continue winning. Their grit and toughness continues to amaze everyone around baseball and tonight shouldn’t be any different. Let’s go Met!
