Yankees defeat Mets 4-3

Tonight the New York Yankees would even up the series with a 4-3 win over the New York Mets. The Mets started the scoring with three unanswered runs, but the Yankees would eventually take the lead in the 7th on four unanswered runs. Raul Ibanez drove in three runs on a three-run homer, while Eric Chavez hit a solo homerun that put the Yankees up. The Mets had a chance to win, but the Yankees were able to get big hits that the Mets were unable to do.

Chris Young started for the Mets, lasting six innings allowing three runs on four hits. Jon Rauch gave up the go ahead run and was charged with the loss.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis had a solo homerun for the Mets. That was the biggest hit for the Mets tonight. Nieuwenhuis continues to hit the ball well, which is why the Mets have to keep him with the major league team.

The Mets and Yankees will conclude their series tomorrow afternoon. By the way tonight’s game had 42,122 people in attendance which set a new Citi Field record.
