The New York Yankees won tonight, taking the final game of a three game series against the New York Mets. Both teams fought hard tonight, but the Yankees were able to get the win. R.A. Dickey had a rough night as he allowed five runs on five hits. Dickey gave up a three-run homer to Nick Swisher that really put the Mets in a bind. But his team was able to get him off the hook in this one, when they tied the game up in the sixth inning.
The Mets didn’t have any extra base hits in this game and that really held them back tonight. They failed to get big hits early on that could have changed the outcome of the game. But they fought back into this game and one mistake by Miguel Batista cost the Mets the game. Batista was charged with the loss after he gave up a homerun to Robinson Cano.
Overall the Mets had opportunities in two games this series that they couldn’t convert on. But they have to continue to play their game and hope that they can start getting timely hits again. Tonight the Yankees won 6-5, taking two games from the Mets this series. The Mets will now focus their attention on the Chicago Cubs, who they face tomorrow night.
WP: Boone Logan (2-0)
