Braves finish off sweep of Mets; Win 6-1

Today the Atlanta Braves handed the New York Mets their third straight loss after the all-star break. This game really fell apart for the Mets in the fifth inning when Johan Santana gave up six runs. Dan Warthen was ejected in that inning after getting into it with C.B. Bucknor. Santana really fell apart in that inning and never could regroup after a close pitch that missed the strike zone. Santana went five innings allowing six runs on eight hits. This was a very unfortunate loss for Santana, who was pitching really well before that fifth inning.

Today the Mets learned that no matter what, they have to keep fighting through the rough spots in games. Winning teams always find a way through bad calls. The Mets will now travel to Washington D.C. to take on the Nationals on Tuesday. The only run in this game came from Andres Torres as he singled in a run in the seventh inning.

A tough series for the Mets ends and now they have to regroup and take the next series to get back on track.
