Tonight the New York Mets made a nice comeback, but fell short of winning the game. The Chicago Cubs were able to beat up on Johan Santana early in this game which really gave them a solid advantage to win the game. Allowing seven runs in 4.2 innings tonight, Santana really struggled to get through his outing. Countless times Santana’s pitches were high in the strike zone and that led to easy hits for the Cubs. Terry Collins thought Santana could get out of the jam, but he couldn’t.
The offense for the Mets showed up just a little late. They made an amazing rally happen, but just couldn’t get the big hit to tie the game or take the lead. Justin Turner went 4 for 4 with an RBI. Turner really played well tonight and really gave the Mets his best effort tonight.
Lucas Duda and Jordany Valdespin both had solo homeruns in tonight’s game. The Mets bullpen allowed just one run in 4.1 innings of work tonight. That only run came off Miguel Batista in the 8th inning.
