The New York Mets lost yet another game tonight. After a team meeting earlier in the day, the Mets still came out flat offensively. A late rally would be stopped and the Mets would suffer their sixth straight loss.
Chris Young started for the Mets and really pitched well. His only mistake came in the sixth inning when he served up a two-run homerun to Adam LaRoche. Young really pitched well today, but every time he goes through the order for the third time, he really struggles. Young gave the Mets an excellent start tonight and really kept them in the game despite allowing the two runs.
The Mets bullpen gave up two huge runs that would comeback to haunt the team.
Andres Torres drove in the first Mets run in the 7th inning, that bought the Mets within a run at the time.
David Wright and Jason Bay both homered in the ninth inning, but the Mets would still lose by a run.
This was a very tough loss for the Mets who really tried to get the win, but they started scoring way to late. This game was a must win and the Mets couldn’t get the job done.
Miguel Batista allowed two runs that really came back to bite the Mets later in this game. Batista is scheduled to start on Saturday against the Dodgers, but that could be changing.
