The New York Mets finally snapped their losing streak today. They would dominate from the start and would lead for the entire game.
David Wright proved today that he is the leader of this team. Today Wright hit two homeruns and a counted for six RBI’s. This was an amazing game from Wright, who has been really the only offensive threat for the Mets in this series. This was a nice day for him and he really showed that he is still having a great season.
R.A. Dickey started for the Mets and he would have a very great start. Dickey went 7.1 innings allowing three runs on ten hits. There were plenty of hits by the Nationals, but Dickey was able to work around most of the hits. This win today by Dickey was his 11th straight. He now improves to 13-1 on the season.
Ike Davis homered in the second inning as he continues to make strides of improvement at the plate.
This was a very important game for the Mets to take. They were able to get the job done and finally have some good momentum going. Losing six games in a row the Mets had to snap that streak, and today they were able to do that.
The Mets will now travel back to New York before facing the Dodgers at Citi Field.
WP: R.A. Dickey (13-1)
LP: Gio Gonzalez (12-5)
