Today the New York Mets fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 9-2 after leading for most of the game. The Mets really self destructed today as Chris Young gave up three runs on two homeruns. Then the bullpen came in an everything just got out hand. Today the Mets really showed that they still struggle against top notch pitchers and that their approach may need to be changed when facing them.
This was a tough day later in the game when the Mets just couldn’t do anything right. But there is always tomorrow and the Mets will have R.A. Dickey on the mound, hoping he can help get them back on track.
Scott Hairston had the biggest hit for the Mets in this game, when he hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning that put the Mets on the scoreboard. Hairston continues to feast on left handed pitchers. And is giving the Mets tons of power when he plays.
WP: Cliff Lee (1-5)
LP: Chris Young (2-2)
