Today Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson announced that the team has place Johan Santana on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 18th.
Team Statement:
“An MRI taken yesterday revealed inflammation in the lower back. Surgery is not indicated… Doctors have prescribed rest and medication. Santana is not expected to pitch the rest of the season.”
Santana finished the season 6-9 with a 4.85 ERA with 111 strikeouts in 117 innings.
