Dickey struggles as Reds beat Mets 6-1

The New York Mets lost their second consecutive game to the Cincinnati Reds tonight. The Reds really took it to the Mets tonight as they defeated them 6-1. The Mets offense continues to be non-existent which causes the pitchers to have more pressure to execute pitches.

R.A. Dickey started for the Mets looking to earn his 16th win. Dickey wouldn’t get the win as he really struggled to limit the long ball. Dickey went six innings allowing five runs on ten hits. This was a very disappoint night for Dickey, who has been pitching very good this season. This start really doesn’t take away from the great season Dickey has had nor is it a concern.

The Mets have lost any momentum they had in the beginning of the season. After the All-Star break the Mets really haven’t had any kind of consistency in winning. The Mets have tomorrow to avoid the sweep, but tonight they continued their struggles. The Mets are now seven games below .500 as they continue to go in the wrong direction.
