The New York Mets took on the Philadelphia Phillies tonight at Citizens Bank Park. The Mets were looking to get their fourth straight win with a win tonight.
Matt Harvey started for the Mets looking to get his third win of the season. Harvey pitched a very solid game considering he didn’t have his best pitches tonight. Harvey lasted 6.1 innings allowing two runs on six hits. The best part of tonight was that Harvey was able to get his fastball up to 99 mph according to the broadcast. That is the hardest that Harvey has thrown since his call up. Harvey also had six strikeouts and two walks in his nice start.
Offensively the Mets would get their offense early. Matt Harvey drove in the first run for the Mets as he tied the game up at one in the second inning. After the Phillies scored in the second inning, Lucas Duda clubbed a two-run homerun that gave the Mets a 3-2 lead that they would hold on to.
This game tonight the Mets really showed that they are starting to feel better about themselves. As the season nears it’s close the Mets have finally found a winning streak. A win tomorrow afternoon would give the Mets five wins in a row. Tonight the Mets continued their season dominance against the Phillies and are in a tie for third place in the NL East standings. The Mets defeated the Phillies 3-2 tonight to earn their fourth straight win.
