Mets defeat Reds 8-4

The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds tonight 8-4. This was a very nice win for the Mets who have struggled over the recent weeks.

Matt Harvey started for the Mets looking to earn his second win of his major league career. Harvey would get the win and would pitch another nice game. Harvey went 7.2 innings allowing one run on four hits. He did strikeout eight batters tonight giving him 34 strikeouts on the season. This was a very well pitched game by Harvey as he really used all of his pitches to get through the game. His location was very solid and his fastball continued to be a strong weapon.

The offense for the Mets really came alive tonight as the Mets clubbed two homeruns. Ike Davis and Jason Bay both had solo homeruns. This was a nice night for the Mets at the plate. They were finally able to drive the ball and get hits after each other. Matt Harvey had a big hit early on as he drove in two runs on a two run double. Harvey has displayed that he can hit and tonight the Reds decided to walk the batter ahead of him which came back to bite them.

Ike Davis and Jason Bay also had two hits tonight and were the only Mets to have two hits tonight.

This was a very nice win for this team heading into tomorrow. The Mets have a three game series against the Nationals and that series will be tough. Tonight they were able to stop the bleeding and get some nice momentum with their 8-4 win over the Reds.
