The New York Mets continued struggling tonight against the Atlanta Braves. Tonight was a tough night for the Mets from every standpoint. The offense wasn’t there and the pitching was really bad.
Johan Santana made the start tonight and would have a very disappointing outing. Santana allowed eight runs tonight on eight hits. Santana only went 1.1 innings tonight in his return from the disabled list. Right now Santana is pitching very poor and tonight was another example of his latest struggles.
Jeremy Hefner came in to try to calm the storm, but served up a three run homerun to Freddie Freeman. Hefner did eat some innings as he went 3.2 innings tonight. The bullpen did a nice job tonight and really limited the Braves from scoring.
Offensively the Mets had minimum offense tonight. Andres Torres, Ruben Tejada, and David Wright all drove in runs tonight. They contributed three runs to the offense and that would be the only scoring the Mets would have.
This series will continue tomorrow when the Braves will look for the series sweep.
WP: Kris Medlen (3-1)
LP: Johan Santana (6-8)
