Mets waste gem from Harvey; Fall to Rockies 5-2

The New York Mets lost another game tonight to the Colorado Rockies. This loss tonight marks the third straight games the Rockies have won.

Matt Harvey did everything he could to keep the Mets in the game and he did. Harvey went six innings allowing one run on three hits. Harvey struck out nine batters tonight and now has 43 strikeouts in his first six games passing Nolan Ryan to set a new Met record. Harvey continues to pitch well and is striking out batters with excellent pitching. Tonight Harvey continued to show that he belongs in this league with a stellar start. Not only did Harvey pitch well, but he also two hits tonight. Harvey now has a .455 batting average and is hitting very well.

The offense for the Mets has been very disappointing during this series and they haven’t supported the pitching. Scott Hairston and Ike Davis both had RBI’s tonight. The Mets did have eight hits tonight, but they could never get the big hit.

Right now the Mets are just in a very bad slump and their season is likely over. But they have a job to do and they are not doing that job right now. After a very successful first half of the season, the Mets have lost any success they gained in the first half of the season.

The Mets did get the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning, but were unable to get any runs.

This series started with the Mets looking to win the series, but now they will have to try to avoid a sweep. And with tonight’s loss the Mets are now ten games under .500. This series really has gone terrible for the Mets and things just keep getting worse. The Rockies have played the Mets well this series and have earned every win. This series will conclude tomorrow afternoon as the Mets look to get a win.
