The New York Mets continued their struggles again tonight as they fell to the Colorado Rockies 6-2. This was yet another game the Mets let get away from them and they were unable to come back.
Chris Young started this game brilliantly, but was unable to get outs as the game went on. Young went seven innings allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits. Young did strikeout a season-high nine batters tonight despite getting stuck with the loss. Early in the game Young seemed in control, but once he started going through the lineup a third time he really struggled. This was a very nice start that Young could build on, but this loss will hurt the team.
Offensively the Mets continue to be starved for runs. They went 1 for 5 with runners in scoring position. Daniel Murphy and Andres Torres both drove in runs on sacrifice fly’s. The Mets have to get a better consistency offensively if they want to start winning games.
Terry Collins was ejected during fifth inning for arguing after a call on the field was overturned and the Mets were given an out. The call was wrong at first, but the umpires did get the call right.
The Mets have two games left against the Rockies to hopefully avoid a series loss. Matt Harvey will start tomorrow, hoping to get the Mets back on track.
