Braves shutout Mets 3-0

The New York Mets were looking to beat the Atlanta Braves as they welcomed them to Citi Field for a three game set.

Jon Niese started for the Mets and really would have a nice pitching performance. Niese worked six innings allowing one run on five hits. Niese really pitched well despite being pinned with the loss. Niese really use a very nice assortment of pitches in this game and really kept the Braves off balance. The only mistake by Niese came in the fourth inning when he served up a solo homerun to Jason Heyward.

The Mets offense was very cold tonight. They could never get the big hit in this game and that resulted in a tough loss. This team continues to be inconsistent at the plate and have struggled to support the pitchers. Tonight they really had little opportunities, but when they had those slight opportunities they just could get a hit.

This series will continue tomorrow as the Mets look to get back on track against the Brave who now have three straight shutout wins.
