Knicks Season Preview: Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony had a very up and down season last year. His numbers weren’t strong throughout the season, but he would get into a groove heading into the final weeks of the season. He really struggled with his shot last year and his field goal percentage really suffered. Shooting 43% from the field, Anthony really couldn’t get his shot to fall consistently.

He would average 22.6 points per game but that really wasn’t his best. Anthony is arguably the best pure one on one threat in the league, but last season his struggles with his shot did a number on his scoring output. Injuries also did a number on Anthony. He had issues with his right wrist at times during the season and that could have been a cause for his poor shooting.

What to Expect

Anthony is in possibly the best shape of his career. His Olympic play this off season was really amazing. His shot seems to be back in full capacity and if that is the case the Knicks will be very tough to beat.

Anthony should be a twenty eight point scorer this season. His ability to score at any moment in the game can make him a threat. This season Anthony will be much better and could have the biggest year of his career.

Defensively Anthony showed that he could play hard and make excellent plays. This is his year to prove to everyone that he can play defense every play and help improve the Knicks on that end of the floor. His hands are really quick and at some points last season he really showed that he could play on that end without having major struggles.

This is a season Anthony should love because he will have a full season to get his game to work alongside Amare Stoudemire. Both players haven’t had a full year to prove themselves and this year all excuses are out the window. It is now or never for the Knicks. Anthony is the biggest factor for the Knicks to win anything. His presence on the floor allows others to contribute. Look for the Knicks to be a dangerous team if Anthony plays hard. His game is really tough and this season Anthony is ready to be a leader for this team.
