Last season Kurt Thomas played in 53 of 66 games, starting in three for the Portland Trail Blazers. Thomas is a very solid veteran guy to come off the bench. With 3.0 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game last season, Thomas could be very valuable with less minutes. Being 39, Thomas really shouldn’t log tons of minutes, but could be very valuable in spurts. Over the last few years, Thomas has really stepped into a limited role quite nicely. His competitive edge alone will help keep the Knicks in games that he participates in.
What to Expect
This season Thomas will likely see less minutes, but in those minutes he plays he should be productive. Expect Thomas to average four to five points per game, along with three rebounds. His mid-range jumper is still pretty solid. The Knicks are looking for Thomas to just be himself in a smaller role, but make no mistake, Thomas is a very tough guy who will play hard no matter what.
