Knicks Season Preview: Ronnie Brewer

Spending the last two seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Ronnie Brewer joins the Knicks. Brewer is very skilled defensively and last season played very hard on that end of the floor. Brewer is not offensively great and last season Brewer shot a career low in field goal percentage. His 42% from the field really showed his trouble with his shot last season. He did start in 43 of the 66 games of the regular season last year, so he could be a starter on this team, but that is unknown right now.

What to Expect

His numbers don’t support how nice a player Brewer is, but his presence on the defensive end will really help the Knicks. His defensive skills are really solid and the Knicks will love what he brings to the team. What Mike Woodson wanted was defensive minded players and now the Knicks seem to have a better roster to support that. This team has a changed mindset and seem to be a much better defensive team on paper.

Right now if Brewer can get back to 100% by the start of the season, he will likely be the starting shooting guard for the Knicks. His defensive abilities will make up for his lack of offense. But Brewer could score more if the Knicks figure out a way to play to his strengths. Brewer should average eight points and grab around five rebounds. Those numbers from him will definitely help the Knicks. This season Brewer should be a very important part of the Knicks team. His ability to play defense will make the team that much better on that end of the floor.
