Knicks Season Preview: Steve Novak

Last season the success of Steve Novak was amazing to watch. Starting the season on the bench Novak rose to prominence as a lethal shooter off the bench. His accuracy was the best in the league as he shot 47% from three point range. He was very good in spot on shooting and made teams pay for leaving him open.

His 8.8 points per game were a career high. His ability to just shoot was just amazing. Most of his makes were all net and his range was just crazy. Not only did he show he was solid offensively, but he started to play better on the defensive end as well. If Novak can become consistent on the defensive end, he will definitely have an important role on this team.

What to Expect

The expectations for Novak is just one thing. Make shots. His presence on the floor makes the defenders worried about him causing open lanes for his teammates. His scoring average should remain around eight points, but it could rise this season depending on his chemistry with Jason Kidd.

Novak emerged as a deadly shooter and this season that shouldn’t chance. His role is bigger this season and more is expected of him. The bench is one area the Knicks could be very good in. Most teams don’t have a complete team, but the Knicks basically have one. The combination of JR Smith and Novak last season caused fits for opposing teams. Those two on the floor together causes the defenders to have to stay close because too much room and both will score.

This year Novak is a key part to the team. If he can score and play good defense the Knicks will be alright.
