Knicks Season Preview: Tyson Chandler

Last season Tyson Chandler joined the Knicks looking to bring a championship pedigree to the team. The Knicks were much improved on the defensive end with Chandler. His defensive knowledge really was amazing. He was able to help the other players with positioning and where to be. He was really a great leader for the team. His defensive abilities would earn him the Defensive Player of the Year award.

His offensive game isn’t strong, but alley-ops and dunks was his staple. The Knicks benefited from his offensive rebounds. He is known for being able to tip missed shots back to his teammates. Time and time again last season Chandler was able to get the Knicks more offensive opportunities and most of the time they paid off.

What to Expect

Chandler will be even better this season in regards to having more defensive players around him. He will benefit from having Ronnie Brewer now on the roster. Brewer knows defense and can really help Chandler on that end.

This season look for Chandler to continue to be a defensive force. The Knicks should be improved on that end with all the moves they made. Right now as a team they seem to have a defensive mindset. Chandler will be the leader on that end simply because of the high energy and smart defensive mind.

His offensive game really should remain the same and his scoring average should be about ten points per game. His rebounding should stay around eleven per game and his blocks should be around one or even two per game. This Knicks team is headed in the right direction right now and with Chandler being the leader he is they should be a very defensive team this season.
