The New York Mets finally were able to get a win tonight after losing six straight games. An offensive eruption tonight showed the Mets offense in a way that has been missing for a while. Two homeruns tonight really made the difference for this team. Daniel Murphy and Lucas Duda both homered in this game giving the Mets plenty of momentum to win this game.
Jon Niese started for the Mets and would pitch a very nice game. Niese went six innings allowing two runs on six hits. Niese really used most of his pitches in this contest and made it difficult for the Brewers to really hit anything out of the park. Niese struck out five and walked three in his start tonight. The Mets have to be encouraged from what Niese has shown late in the season. In the past Niese has had injuries end his season, but right now Niese seems to be pitching very good.
This was a very nice night at the plate for the Mets, who in their last home stand really struggled to score runs. Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda, Ike Davis, and Josh Thole all had RBI hits in this game. It was really nice to see the Mets offense take off for once and they did it against a team vying for a playoff spot.
The Mets bullpen pitched very well today despite allowing a run, but overall the bullpen has done well over the last couple of weeks.
This series will continue tomorrow night as Jenrry Mejia will get his first start of the season as the Mets look to get another win.
