Phillies defeat Mets 3-1

The New York Mets returned home today looking to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies. The Mets would trail from the start of this game. And with their struggles at home would stand no chance in winning this game.

R.A. Dickey started for the Mets looking to collect his 19th win of the season. Instead of getting the win tonight, Dickey would collect his 200th strikeout of the season. Lasting seven innings today allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, Dickey really struggled to limit the long ball as he allowed two homeruns. He did strikeout eight batters today, but he really had bad pitches that ended his night.

The Mets offense was able to score just one run on a Daniel Murphy RBI single. This offense continues to struggle at home and tonight was no different. The Mets had seven hits, but couldn’t get any big hits tonight.

Tomorrow this series will continue where the Mets will look to try to get back on track against their division rival.
