The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics played their second preseason game against each other tonight. Both teams rested plenty of players. Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, Jason Kidd, Brandon Bass, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett all sat this game out.
The Knicks were very solid in the first half on offense as they accumulated 15 assists. They really moved the ball on offense and were able to find the open man just about every time. Chris Copeland really stood out in the first half as he scored 23 points in that half. He really has played well overall this preseason and seems to have a spot on this team.
In the second half both teams played well, but the Celtics really had the advantage. The Knicks really struggled to contain the Celtics offense in the second half and that would result in them losing the game.
Chris Copeland was a very solid scorer for the Knicks as he scored a team high 34 points. He really was impressive tonight. His ability to draw contact tonight was very surprising. This performance tonight will likely give him the final roster spot for the team. His ability to score with the second unit could be very helpful during the regular season.
James White scored 16 points in 45 minutes on the floor tonight. White has played exceptionally well on the defensive end and tonight had 5 steals. He could be the starting shooting guard come the regular season simply because he has done well at the position in the preseason.
Pablo Prigioni did a nice job in spreading the ball around tonight. His 9 assists led the team and he has shown that he could see some minutes earlier than expected.
The Celtics defeated the Knicks 109-98. The Knicks will play Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers where they will more than likely have their starting lineup back.
