Knicks defeat Nets 97-95 in overtime

The New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets played their final preseason game tonight. Both teams were looking for the win in what was a preview of the season opener, next Thursday.

In the opening moments of the game Tyson Chandler was involved in a collision with Gerald Wallace and that would end Chandler’s night. Chandler was diagnosed with a sore left knee. The Knicks are saying that the injury isn’t serious and they wanted to take a precautionary approach to the injury.

This game was very good from start to finish. The Knicks and Nets were tied in the dying seconds of this game as both teams wanted to end the preseason with a win.

The Knicks had the ball with 23.3 seconds left in game, but missed the opportunity to win the game. Mychel Thompson would miss a jump shot as time expired which forced this game into overtime.

In overtime the Knicks and Nets would continue to battle it out, but the Knicks would get some timely hoops from Steve Novak and Mychel Thompson was enough as the Knicks would get the win.

Chris Copeland led the Knicks in scoring tonight with 16 points. Copeland continues to be a source on offense, his ability to score in a multitude of ways is amazing. Copeland and Prigioni really have worked well together this preseason and tonight was no different. He did have 7 turnovers tonight, but overall his play this preseason should earn him a roster spot.

Carmelo Anthony scored 15 points in 32 minutes of action tonight. Anthony really struggled early on in this game. He started the game missing his first seven shots before hitting his first. He did rebound the ball really nicely tonight as he collected 9 rebounds. This season Anthony needs to rebound and tonight he did that.

Raymond Felton was spectacular tonight with his offensive game. Felton has picked up the scoring in games the Knicks need offense. His 15 points in 24 minutes were very nice to help the team.

Pablo Prigioni was very efficient tonight as he dished out 11 assists. He really made some difficult passes and really was able to get the second unit to work nicely together. Prigioni has made the change to the NBA look fairly easy. This was a very nice performance by the 35 year-old rookie.

The Knicks won their final preseason game tonight ending their preseason with a 3-3 record. The Knicks and Nets will play November 1st at the Barclays Center to open the regular season.
