The New York Knicks took on the Washington Wizards tonight, playing their first preseason game of the year.
Coming out strong the Knicks led by 18 points to end the first quarter, but a second quarter drought would allow the Wizards back into the game.
The Wizards would lead 56-53 at the half as the Knicks really struggled to hit their shots.
The Knicks really had a nice third quarter as they scored 29 points to take a 82-80 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter the Knicks would dominate the quarter and would win 108-101.
Carmelo Anthony was in prime form tonight as his offensive game really was solid in the first preseason game. Anthony scored 17 points in 20 minutes of action tonight. He was very fluid from behind the arc as he connected on all three of the three pointers he attempted. This was a very nice start to the season for Anthony and he should continue to have great games this season.
Steve Novak really shot the ball really well tonight, he was canning threes from all over the court and went a perfect 7 for 7 from behind the arc. Novak scored 21 points in 30 minutes of play.
JR Smith also had a great game as he scored 20 points and dished out 6 assists. Smith played really smart tonight and really was a nice spark off the bench. This season Smith has the potential to give the Knicks plenty of scoring and tonight proved that.
Pablo Prigioni was solid in his first NBA action. Prigioni scored 14 points in 21 minutes on the floor. He made four three pointers and everyone was a catch and make. If he can hit shots he could be very valuable to this team.
The Knicks were able to get this win tonight as they start the preseason off 1-0. As a team tonight the Knicks connected on 18 three pointers. This was nice game for the Knicks from many standpoints and a nice performance to build on.
