There were plenty of great signs in Thursday’s win over the Spurs for the Knicks. One was their ability to win a game in which Carmelo Anthony was a non-factor offensively. That in itself was a huge sign that this Knicks team is fully loaded and can win a game without Anthony really dominating offensively.
Jason Kidd was a leader in the fourth quarter as he knocked down three clutch threes. His veteran mindset in close games continues to amaze as he makes the right plays. Despite having a major turnover late in the fourth quarter, Kidd had an overall nice impact on the game. He must continue to produce for this team.
Raymond Felton was efficient with his minutes and was the biggest part of the teams win. His 25 points and 7 assists were huge in this win. This season Felton has already showed that he can still be a dominate point guard. His performance last night really has to be viewed as a solid performance against a tough Spurs defense.
Overall the Knicks were able to win a game in which they trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter. They were able to play solid defense in that quarter and that’s why they won the game. Their energy picked up and they really shut the Spurs down offensively.
