The New York Knicks took on the Miami Heat tonight, in their first game of the season.
The Knicks really scored the ball tonight and that was too much for the Heat to defend. The ball movement was very solid and the team was able to find an open guy every time. This was a very important game for the Knicks, who wanted to get off to a nice start.
Carmelo Anthony was in full force early in this game as he scored 16 points in the first quarter. His shot was really in prime form and he made the Heat pay. Anthony went on to score 30 points and 10 rebounds. His shot fell off, but his production came at a time when the Knicks needed it.
This was a very consistent game for the Knicks. They allowed the Heat to cut the lead down to 11, but they were able to hit big shots to push their lead back open.
The three point shooting for the Knicks was lethal tonight. Their 19 threes were way to much for the Heat to overcome. Steve Novak had five threes tonight for 17 points. His production is huge for the Knicks tonight. His ability to hit the three makes him a very important part of the team. Tonight he was able to get his shots to fall and that really made the game easier for the Knicks.
Raymond Felton had 14 points and 9 assists. He was very good early on with slicing through the defense to create shots for his teammates. His ability to get to the basket and create for others is very important.
Rasheed Wallace made his Knicks debut tonight playing just three minutes. Wallace did hit a three pointer and grab a rebound in his time on the floor.
The Knicks won the first game of the season and started off on the right foot. They have to continue to build on tonight’s performance and keep their energy level high. The Knicks won tonight 104-84 over the defending NBA champion, Miami Heat. The Knicks will play their next game on Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia 76ers.
