The New York Knicks played the Philadelphia 76ers today in front of a sellout crowd at Madison Square Garden.
The energy level the Knicks have to start the season is just amazing. They played tonight with excellent intensity and focus. Carmelo Anthony was the star today. His scoring and smart shots really made him tough to defend and he knew it. Anthony scored 27 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and really took it to the Sixers defense.
This Knicks game was really well controlled on the defensive end. They had excellent interior defense and really made the Sixers shoot the ball when they didn’t want to.
Knicks led by 17 points at one point in this game. Ball movement was their special today as they accumulated 18 assists. This was a very nice game for the Knicks who have played very well to start the season.
Off the bench JR Smith really stepped up today. Smith scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Smith really played well in the second half. His shot started to fall and that was the start of the hot shooting from Smith. This was a very nice game from Smith who had a couple of mistakes, but overall really had a nice impact on the game.
Overall this Knicks team has done well over the first two games and they have given the opposing defense nightmares.
The Knicks shot 51% from the field and really took smart shots. They won this game 100-84 and now are 2-0 on the season. They will play the Sixers again tomorrow in Philadelphia.
