The New York Knicks were utterly destroyed tonight by the Houston Rockets. Defensively the Knicks were never able to establish any pressure and the Rockets were able to do anything they wanted. Those defensive issues really took away a nice offensive night.
This was a nice offensive night for the Knicks, but they were never able to get stops on the other end. Carmelo Anthony was the scorer for the Knicks tonight as he scored a season high 37 points. Anthony was able to score at will with excellent shooting. But as a team the Knicks lacked defense to win.
The play of Raymond Felton was great as he scored 17 points and dished out 8 assists. Felton continues to be a nice secondary scorer for the Knicks along with his excellent passing.
This was a night where the Knicks were supposed to come out and show that they do not miss Jeremy Lin, but instead seemed to get caught up in trying to prove a point then win a game.
Since their first lost to the Memphis Grizzlies the Knicks are really struggling on the defensive end to stop penetration and get to the open man. They have to get back to the basics of their defense in order to improve.
This was the first back to back loss for the Knicks in the regular season under Mike Woodson.
Tonight the Knicks lost as a team and have to regroup as a team. They now have to play the Detroit Pistons on Sunday afternoon before taking on the Brooklyn Nets the next day. This was a very bad loss for this team, but they have to get back to playing defense in order to win games.
It is also worth noting that forward Rasheed Wallace missed this game with a sore left foot.
