The New York Knicks won their toughest game to date as they defeated the San Antonio Spurs 104 to 100.
Defense was an issue for the Knicks early on, but they were able to settle down in key areas of the game to pull this win out. This was a very impressive win by the Knicks who trailed by 12 points in the fourth quarter.
Carmelo Anthony was very quiet tonight, but he made some key rebounds and assists. The Spurs did an excellent job in denying Anthony the ball and when he would get the ball they would just crowd him and make him work for his shot. His rebounding was impressive as he collected 12 rebounds including 5 offensive rebounds. Anthony was very under controlled late in this game
and really let his teammates take this game over.
Jason Kidd made three huge three pointers in this comeback win. Kidd really has stepped up at times this season and tonight he really made the Spurs pay for leaving him open. Kidd scored 14 points tonight and really scored for this team when they needed him most.
Raymond Felton was the leading scorer for the Knicks as he scored 25 points and dished out 7 assists. He was a very important part for the Knicks tonight. He was able to get to the rim any time he wanted and that penetration allowed him to find open teammates. This was by far his best game of the season.
JR Smith stepped up late in this game after struggling early on. Smith scored 17 points and would hit the go ahead basket to give the Knicks the lead. Smith continues to be huge for the Knicks who needed his scoring tonight.
In the last five games the Knicks won each by double figures, but tonight they won by four. Winning has been the source of success for the Knicks this season. Tonight they continued that with a 104-100 win over the Spurs. The Knicks will play the Memphis Grizzles tomorrow night and that game will be just as tough to win.
