Anthony returns, leading Knicks past Nuggets 112-106

The New York Knicks defeated the Denver Nuggets 112-106 tonight at Madison Square Garden. After trailing 84-80 entering the fourth quarter the Knicks were able to get back into the game with big time shots.

Steve Novak and Jason Kidd were major contributors for the Knicks in the fourth quarter. Novak nailed two big three-point shots that were huge in this win. Kidd on the other hand had 6 assists in the fourth quarter. Kidd was the leader in the fourth quarter as he set up his teammates with excellent passes. Both Novak and Kidd really made the comeback complete with excellent fourth quarter execution.

With 34 points and 6 rebounds, Carmelo Anthony stepped up in his return from injury. Anthony was huge the entire night as he was able to force his way inside the Nuggets defense to draw fouls. On the night Anthony shot 16 free throws and made 11 of them. His ability to score really impacted this game. Not only did he have an excellent game overall, but his 11 points in the fourth quarter were huge in getting the Knicks this win. His shot was off early in this game, but he made a couple of tough baskets to close out this game.

On the night the Knicks had five double digit scorers: Anthony, Chandler, Felton, Kidd, and Smith. That group really made a nice impact on the game and put the Knicks in the best position to win the game.

Tyson Chandler was all over the court yet again tonight. Chandler was getting inside the Nuggets defense to throw down some nice dunks and draw fouls. He also grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked two shots. His role on this team is so vital every night because he is a major difference maker on both ends of the floor.

Tonight the Knicks really did an excellent job in limiting the three ball as they allowed the Nuggets to make 5 three-pointers. Their defense really made some huge stops late in this game and really did a nice job in not letting the Nuggets win this game.

This season at home the Knicks have done an exceptional job in getting wins. They are now 8-0 on their home floor this season and continue to make winning at home a priority.

The Knicks will travel to Brooklyn for their next game on Tuesday night, when they take on the Nets. But tonight the Knicks defeated the Nuggets earning them their 15th win of the season.
