Chandler and Kidd lead Knicks past Cavaliers 103-102

Despite not having leading scorer and team leader Carmelo Anthony, the New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 103-102.

This game was very close for the most part with each team having led by at least eight points. Kyrie Irving did everything in his power to get his team the win, but he was unable to do that. Irving scored 41 points on 60% shooting and really hit big shots in the fourth quarter.

The Knicks really struggled with their interior defense as they allowed 46 points in the paint. That is an area they will have to improve in if they want to keep winning. Tonight they were able to get timely baskets and rebounds to win this game.

Tyson Chandler really was the difference in this game. His effort in the second half was special for the Knicks. Chandler scored 21 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the second half. He was everywhere, diving on the floor, tipping balls back to the guards, and really strong finishes around the basket. His play tonight really was strong as he finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Not only did Chandler impact this game, but Jason Kidd was very effective despite his struggles shooting the ball. Kidd was the catalyst for the Knicks offense as he dished out 8 assists and grabbed 6 rebounds. Kidd also had a couple of big threes to extend the Knicks lead. His leadership has done wonders on this team. Everyone is playing as a team and that is really having a profound affect on this team.

The Knicks had five players in double figures tonight. Raymond Felton was one of the five as he scored a team high 25 points. Felton also had 7 assists and 5 rebounds. His shot still is inconsistent, but he continues to provide points for this team.

This was a very nice win for the Knicks, who continue to win at home. Without Carmelo Anthony and Rasheed Wallace, the Knicks still looked dominant tonight. They have played well and are continuing to play at a high level. The Knicks will continue this home stand on Monday night when they take on the Houston Rockets.
