Tonight was a tough night for the Knicks. Their offense and defense struggled mightily and that led to the Sixers having an easy night.
Jrue Holiday had a career night with tonight’s performance. Holiday scored 35 points for the Sixers and really was the force that really made the night tough for the Knicks. Holiday was selected to his first All-Star game this past Thursday and tonight really showed why. He played at a high level and really stayed in the paint.
For the Knicks their struggles were team wide. Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire were the only double digit scorers as Anthony scored 25 and Stoudemire scored 20. Both really were the only forces on offense.
Jason Kidd, Iman Shumpert, and JR Smith all were 0 of 18 tonight. That trio really couldn’t score and that was really why the Knicks struggled tonight.
Raymond Felton did return tonight and he would struggle. Felton scored 8 points in 28 minutes of action. He did make a couple of nice passes tonight, but overall he didn’t play the game he wanted to. He shot 2 of 8 in his return.
This was a very poor performance by the Knicks, but they do have one positive sign to take with them. Amare Stoudemire played very well tonight. He made his presence felt early on when the Knicks were down by 10. He came in and really was able to play both ends of the floor. His energy was up, and he was able to use some post moves to score some nice baskets.
The Knicks have to quickly move past this loss because they have a game tomorrow night against the Atlanta Hawks.
