The New York Knicks defeated the Detroit Pistons 99-85, to earn their fifth straight win.
Tyson Chandler stole the show as he grabbed 20 rebounds for the third consecutive game. Chandler really was able to get rebounds yet again and tonight filled up that column. Chandler scored 8 points and recorded one block in his 36 minutes of action. Tonight, Chandler became the first Knick to grab 20 rebounds in three straight games since Willis Reed did that in the 69’-70’ season. These last three games really have been spectacular for Chandler and his play really hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Carmelo Anthony really had the scoring touch tonight as he scored 27 points. Anthony was able to find his spots and convert on his opportunities. His efficiency was up tonight as he shot 10 of 17 from the field. Anthony really played well after his nine point game against the Sacramento Kings. Anthony also shot 3 of 5 from long range.
Amare Stoudemire scored 20 points tonight in 28 minutes. Stoudemire continues to play at a high level off the bench and that continued tonight. His post game has really been spectacular considering he just learned some of his moves this season. He really has embraced his role off the bench and has flourished in his new role.
Tonight the Knicks continued to dominate teams recently. They have played “bottom feeders”, but have done their jobs in the last few games to get wins. Tonight was another example of how good this team is when they are making shots. The second half they had a let down defensively, but were able to get the win.
JR Smith scored 16 points off the bench tonight. Smith really scored when the Knicks needed a score. His three-pointer late in this game really ended the Pistons night.
The Knicks will play the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night looking for their sixth straight win. Tonight they played hard to start and never looked back. This was a nice game for the team and they gave the home crowd a nice win.
