Despite trailing by 12 points early on in this game, the New York Knicks were able to comeback from that deficit and win this game.
Leading by as many as 50 points, the Knicks really had a great offensive night. Leading the way was JR Smith who would connect on 7 three-pointers. Smith also scored a game-high 25 points on 9 of 16 shooting. This was a very nice outing by Smith, who really had his shot going tonight.
Amare Stoudemire continued his stellar play tonight as he scored 21 points off the bench. He also went 10 of 10 from the field with 6 rebounds. Tonight’s performance really was an amazing one for Stoudemire, who continues to improve each game.
Tyson Chandler grabbed 20 rebounds for the second consecutive game. Chandler became the first to do this since Marcus Camby in 2001-02. Chandler continues to rebound at a high level. In his 29 minutes Chandler really played every minute and gave the Knicks excellent rebounding.
Carmelo Anthony didn’t score 20 points tonight, but he did have 5 assists. Anthony scored 9 points and really had an easy night. Anthony did have 5 assists and really didn’t have to do much tonight.
This was a very great offensive night by the Knicks and they knew it. Every player, except Ronnie Brewer, scored in this game. Five Knicks were able to score in double figures tonight.
Steve Novak was also part of the scoring party, as he scored 15 points in 16 minutes of action. Novak connected on 5 three-pointers and really looked like the Novak of old. Hopefully this break out of shooting can give him the confidence to continue shooting when he has opportunities.
Three-point shots were also great for the Knicks tonight. Collectively they were able to connect on 19 threes. Their shots were falling and the ball movement was great. This was an excellent team win and the 30th win of the season.
The Knicks will play the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, looking to get win number 31.
