Another tough loss tonight. The Toronto Raptors defeated the New York Knicks 100-98 and continue to go in the right direction.
Rudy Gay was the deciding factor in this game. Gay scored 32 points for the Raptors, who have really benefited since they acquired him from the Memphis Grizzlies. This performance tonight was really impressive and he really did a nice job in finding his spots and capitalizing on his opportunities.
The Knicks really struggled on the defensive end in this game and it would cost them. Despite allowing the Raptors to score 16 points in the second quarter, the Knicks really struggled on the defensive end in the third quarter. They allowed the Raptors to score 31 points with ease. Over the last couple of months the Knicks have struggled defensively and tonight that continued. They have showed signs of dominating defense, but are unable to find consistency.
Carmelo Anthony scored a team high 32 points tonight. He really was able to use his array of moves to score. This was a nice performance tonight, but Anthony would miss a game tying three that would have made it a great performance. He continues to score for this team in ways that they need.
Off the bench JR Smith scored 19 points as he hit some big shots. Smith really played well tonight and really did a nice job in attacking the basket. Overall the Knicks have to be happy with what Smith did tonight.
This was the fourth straight loss by the Knicks tonight, which is a season high. They are barely hanging onto the division lead, but have to fight through this tough stretch.
The schedule will not be any easier as the Knicks have a game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night. This game will be the biggest game of the season because it could be the deciding factor in the teams season.
