Knicks snap skid; Defeat 76ers 99-93

The New York Knicks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 99-93 to snap their four game losing streak. This was a game in which the Knicks controlled the entire night. At one point in the game the Knicks went up by 20 and would never lose their lead.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 29 points and really was able to get to the line. Anthony would connect on 16 of 18 free throw attempts. His aggressiveness really wasn’t anything new tonight, but he was able to draw contact using the pump fake. He really was able to create the contact and get the calls. Anthony also collected seven rebounds and and two assists.

Amare Stoudemire was a real threat off the bench tonight as he scored a season high 22 points. Stoudemire really played in the inside tonight. His accuracy was there as he made 9 of 10 shots. Stoudemire also made some jump shots, which was very nice to see. Stoudemire has to continue to use both his post game and mid-range jumper to be an effective force for the team. Tonight he did both well and the result was a team win.

JR Smith was a spark off the bench as he scored 14 points. Smith made timely shot after timely shot and that was an important factor to hold off the Sixers in the fourth quarter. Smith also six rebounds and really looked to push the ball. He was an active force on the defense as he used his patience to create turnovers. This wasn’t a “stat” filled performance by Smith, but instead is impact wasn’t in the box score.

Overall tonight was very important and the Knicks were able to get the win. The Sixers made a run late, but the Knicks were able to keep them away. This was an important game for the Knicks confidence and it came at the perfect time. The Knicks will next face the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. That game is also one of importance.
