BTN: Kenyon Martin

By the Numbers: Kenyon Martin

Kenyon Martin season

In just 12 games this season, Kenyon Martin is proving his worth. His overall play has really impacted the Knicks with the losses of Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemire, Kurt Thomas, and Rasheed Wallace.

In those 12 games Martin is shooting 62 percent from the field with 77 percent from under the basket. Around the basket Martin has been automatic and really has done a nice job in getting to missed shots. His 27 offensive rebounds speak to his ability to get to the basket after a miss. Those offensive rebounds have really made a difference for the Knicks in getting more opportunities to score. With him rebounding on the offensive end, Martin has scored 33 second chance points for the Knicks, which is really high considering him playing in 12 games.

His role on the team has really changed from when the Knicks signed him to a 10-day contract last month. He was as real question mark with his conditioning, but has really showed no signs of rust with his time off the court.

No matter how Martin finishes this season, he really stepped up for the Knicks with all the injuries to their front court.
