Carmelo Anthony leads Knicks past Wizards 96-88

The New York Knicks defeated the Washington Wizards tonight 96-88, earning their 35th win of the season.

Carmelo Anthony really was the leader offensively tonight, Anthony scored a game high 30 points tonight. He also grabbed 6 rebounds and 3 assists. This was another nice performance by Anthony, who continues to play at a high level. Every night Anthony gives the Knicks a boost offensively and tonight wasn’t any different.

Off the bench JR Smith really played well. Before fouling out late in the fourth quarter, Smith scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. He continues to impact the game in all areas. When he does that the Knicks are tough to beat.

Raymond Felton had an excellent night with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assist. He really was able to get to the basket and score there. That was the difference for him. He was aggressive and had an attacking mindset. That was a huge help for the team and was a major plus in the win.

This was a nice win by the Knicks, who continue to perform much better in their last three games. Overall the Knicks needed tonight’s win because the schedule will get tougher. The Knicks will next face the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon that game will surely be a huge game from many standpoints.

Pablo Prigioni didn’t play tonight due to back issues, that will be a very important issue to keep an eye on.
