Felton leads Knicks past Pistons 87-77

The New York Knicks were without Carmelo Anthony for tonight’s game due to right knee soreness. They would get the job done tonight without him.

Leading the Knicks was Raymond Felton who scored a team high 26 points tonight. Felton was unstoppable in the second half as he scored 19 points. This was a nice performance by Felton who turned the ball over seven times tonight, but only twice in the second half. With Anthony out Felton really picked up his scoring. Felton also had six rebounds and four assists tonight.

Amare Stoudemire, who would have a sensational game off the bench, would score 22 points and grab 9 rebounds. This was his game early on as he scored 17 points in the first half. He used all his moves in that first half as he dominated on the inside. As the season grows closer to an end, it will be very important for Stoudemire to continue to play at a high level.

After having a rough start, JR Smith was able to get into a groove. Smith scored 20 points off the bench in what was a nice night for him. Smith shot 4-of-11 from long range, but he really was able to get his mid-range jumper working, which was key.

The Knicks did have a season high 20 turnovers tonight, which was high considering how well they have done with turnovers this season.

Overall the Knicks won a game they couldn’t lose. This was a nice effort by the team tonight and an excellent team win. The Knicks improve to 37-21 on the season and reclaim the second seed in the Eastern Conference. Tomorrow the Knicks will face the Oklahoma City Thunder at Madison Square Garden, in what will be another big game for the Knicks.
