The New York Knicks defeated the Orlando Magic tonight 106-94, earning their 40th win of the season. The Knicks welcomed back Carmelo Anthony tonight, as he returned after missing the last three games with a right knee injury. Anthony would score 21 points in his return, he also collected 8 rebounds.
Anthony looked really energized and really didn’t show any signs of pain. He jumped effortlessly and really looked to take the ball to the basket. He also shot 50 percent from the field including 3 of 5 from long range.
JR Smith was also a leader tonight as he scored 22 points. Smith shot 50 percent from the field as well. He really attacked the rim the entire night, which would open up his shot opportunities.
The Knicks tonight handled business at home and took care of a team that has struggled this season. They will have to play the Toronto Raptors on Friday night and that is a game where the Knicks will want to come out strong. Tonight they did everything well. The second quarter continues to be a struggle for the team, but they were able to get past that quarter with minimum issues.
Also, Iman Shumpert injured his left knee tonight. It doesn’t seem serious, but it is worth noting that Shumpert didn’t play in the second half.
For now the Knicks seem out of their struggles with back to back wins. Carmelo Anthony definitely gave them a lift tonight and the return of Tyson Chandler next week should also energize the team.
