Streaking Knicks defeat Celtics 100-85

The New York Knicks won their fifth straight game tonight as they defeated the Boston Celtics 100-82. This was a very nice road win for the Knicks, who continue to improve.

JR Smith took advantage of the Celtics lack of inside presence as he scored 32 points tonight. Smith really worked his way into the paint eluding many of the Celtic defenders. This was one of his better game because he really was aggressive. That aggressiveness really has made a difference for him and his team.

The Knicks as a team attacked inside as they scored 50 points in the paint. This area has lacked all season for the Knicks, but over the last few games the Knicks have really taken it to teams in the paint. Tonight that continued and really was a major part of this win.

Carmelo Anthony scored 29 points tonight. Anthony shot 10 of 30 from the field, but that really doesn’t show his aggressiveness tonight. Anthony had opportunities around the basket, but missed on some short shots. This performance wasn’t his best, but he still came out with a solid night.

Overall Smith and Anthony really were the two major influences in tonight’s win, but Jason Kidd really made some smart plays tonight. Despite not recording an assist, Kidd still was able to set up some beautiful plays. His smarts really were on display tonight as he did the little things. He scored 5 points with 6 rebounds and also had a staggering plus 16 rating tonight. He continues to provide excellent leadership for the team and tonight he was a leader yet again.

With tonight’s win the Knicks improve to 43-26. This current winning streak really has come at a great time. After the team lost four games in a row, there was some concern with how the Knicks would finish the season, but after tonight’s win they have shown some urgency. With a game against the Memphis Grizzlies tomorrow night, the Knicks really did a nice job in getting a win tonight.
